WITH THE arrest of three persons, the Misrod police claim to have solved within 24 hours the blind murder of a youth whose body, cut into in five pieces, was recovered from railway tracks in Misrod area on May 5.
“The murder was committed over illicit relations between the deceased and sister-in-law of one of the accused’’, Bhopal SP Anant Kumar Singh told mediapersons at a press conference at Police Control Room here today.
The culprits, Durgaprasad Keer (42), Pratap Keer (35) and Rakesh Keer had murdered Shriram Keer (35), one of their distant relatives, to avenge the latter’s illicit relations with Vasu Bai (25), wife of Durgaprasad’s younger brother Narbadaprasad Keer, said Singh.
The SP said that deceased Shriram, native of Rehti area in Sehore district, worked as labourer and also performed black magic and exorcism. About eight months ago, he came to Misrod to meet Narbadaprasad, who worked at the farmhouse of one Nanabhai Patidar.
As both men were distantly related, Shriram started living with Narbadaprasad at the farmhouse. Shriram developed illicit relations with Narbadaprasad’s wife Vasu Bai. Meanwhile, Narbadaprasad developed several serious ailments and became almost bed-ridden.
The relations between Shriram and Vasu Bai continued clandestinely but somehow they were exposed to Narbadaprasad’s brother Durgaprasad. Subsequently, Durgaprasad, along with Pratap, confronted Shriram and accused him of making Narbadaprasad sick and even luring his wife into illicit relations.
They threatened Shriram and forced him to leave the farmhouse. Shriram, out of fear, left the place and shifted to Mandideep about three months back.
However, he continued illicit relations with Vasu Bai and regularly came to Misrod on one pretext or the other. Enraged at that, Durgaprasad, Pratap and Rakesh, son of Narbadaprasad’s sister, planned to murder Shriram.
On May 4, Shriram again came to meet his paramour but this time, the three culprits were also there. The trio pretended to befriend Shriram and had a drinking spree in the afternoon and again lured Shriram to meet them in the night.
Shriram took the bait and this time they met at one Rajnikant Mehta’s farmhouse, where Pratap has been working as watchman for past five-six years.
At about 10.30 pm, the men had a heated argument on the same issue and the culprits hit Shriram on the head with wooden sticks. Shriram collapsed and the trio took his body to the railway tracks, which are very close to the to make it look like a case of a person coming under train.
They even disfigured Shriram’s face by hitting it with a heavy stone conceal his identity. Subsequently, a train ran over Shriram’s body cutting it into five-six pieces. The culprits then fled from the spot. During investigations, however, the police and FSL team were ascertained that it was a case of murder. The police’s sniffer dog went up to the scene of crime at the farmhouse.
From there the police arrested Pratap and he broke down during strict interrogations. He led the police to Durgaprasad and Rakesh who had fled to Hoshangabad.
