Unidentified militants exploded a powerful grenade at the complex of a private clinic in Imphal West district of Manipur injuring two attendents of a patient, official sources said on Wednesday.

Sources said the militants lobbed the explosive at Langol View Charitable Clinic and Maternity Home at Langol Kombirei market complex, about four km from in Imphal on Tuesday.

Two attendents of a patient were injured by the splinters, sources said adding their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Sources said the motive behind the crime was not immediately known but monetary demand from the private clinic by a militant outfit appeared to be the cause of the incident.

He appealed to the militant outfits not to serve monetary demand letters to the clinic as it was serving the public.
