Both Deepa Mehta and Salman Rushdie are keen to rope in new kiddo on the block Imran Khan for the screen adaptation of Midnight's children, but it seems Imran Khan has some other things on mind.
During one of her visits to Mumbai last year, Deepa tried to contact Imran. But, there was no response from his end. The director is forced to explore more options from India as well as abroad.
Apparently, when Rushdie came to Deepa Mehta with the proposal to turn his bestseller novel Midnight's Children into a film, he had a pre-condition of playing one of the characters. Deepa Mehta, of course, agreed.
Rushdie has also done cameos in Bridget Jones' Diary and And Then She Found Me.
Salman Rushdie and Deepa have been close friends for years. They're co-scripting the movie adaptation of Midnight's Children.
