The government is quite serious about projecting India as a safe tourist destination. With this objective, the ministry of tourism is all set to teach people a lesson or two through a short film on how to behave towards tourists.

The six-minute film, with message from actor Aamir Khan who is the brand ambassador of Incredible India, will be launched on Friday.

The film, second of its kind in a few months, has lessons on how we should change our attitude towards tourists.

It also tells people to be kind and courteous to tourists, refrain from cheating and maintain hygiene.

Tourism secretary Dr Lalit K Panwar said: “Aamir Khan’s first promotional film was well received. These are small measures that we are taking to get more foreign travellers.”

The ministry recently started distributing travel advisory booklets to foreigners at airports.

India’s tourism industry took a hit after the 2012 gang rape made international headlines.

The incident had prompedthe government to introduce a host of security measures such as a travel advisory with tips for foreign tourists.
