The income tax commissioner for Income Tax Appellate Tribunal of Agra, Homi Rajwanshi was arrested along with four others by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI team raided the office of arrested Income Tax Commissioner at third floor of Agra Income Tax Office besides the official guest house in Agra, where the arrested IT official used to reside during Agra stay, was also searched by CBI team on Tuesday morning.
The arrest, revealed to have taken place in Delhi, relates to corruption charges during tenure of arrested official who was on deputation as Managing Director for NAFED while his earlier posting in Kolkata.
Sensation gripped the Income Tax Office of Agra in early hours of Tuesday when a CBI team reached Agra Income Tax Office in Sanjay Place. The team raided the office of arrested Income Tax Commissioner (Appellate Tribunal) at third floor.
According to sources, the Rajwanshi was arrested along with four others including Lalit Mohan, SK Jain, Vinod Gupta, Daulat Singh Chauhan for matter relating to NAFED.
Income Tax Commissioner (ITC-II) for Agra, Archana Ranjan said that it is not the matter directly concerning income tax department. The action has been taken in the continuation of an earlier case held in Kolkata when the alleged officials were posted in NAFED around three or four years back.
The two-member team of CBI reached income tax office at 9 am and inspected the documents at office as well as the guest house of department where, Rajwanshi lived. After over one hour, they leaved the income tax department at 10.10 am, she added. She claimed that the CBI team has found nothing regarding the case and has not taken away a single paper.
