India broadband spectrum auction ends: Sources

India's wireless broadband spectrum auction ended today after 16 days of bidding, two sources with direct knowledge said.

India's wireless broadband spectrum auction ended on Friday after 16 days of bidding, two sources with direct knowledge said.



Eleven firms, including India's top three telecoms firms - Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Vodafone Essar - and US chipmaker Qualcomm Inc were bidding for broadband spectrum.



Bids for one set of nationwide wireless broadband spectrum licences in India had totalled 127.75 billion rupees ($2.72 billion) as of Thursday.
