According to a National Cricket Academy (NCA) official, who accompanied the team, the training went on well.

Besides medical test, the players would also undergo personal and muscular and body composition assessments in the morning. They would have a relaxation session in the afternoon during which they would perform activities like yoga, swimming and Tai-chi which aided in improving concentration.

They would be subjected to fitness test at the NCA on July 30 morning and made to perform field activities at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the afternoon.

On the penultimate day of the week-long fitness camp, the players would have a fitness session in the morning at a Defence establishment and a field session at NCA later in the day.

The final day would see the players sweating it out at the NCA gym in the morning.

The team would reassemble at the NCA on August five for a week-long 'Cricket Skill camp' under Coach Greg Chappell. Bowler Murali Karthick and Lakshmipathy Balaji would also be joining the camp as per the instruction of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, despite not being included in the team bound for Sri Lanka.

The Team would fly to Colombo on August 10. The other team to take part in the tri-series other than India and Sri Lanka was South Africa.
