India remains a popular destination with foreigners. The country has been ranked the fourth top travel destination in a group of 100, according to travel and tourism magazine Conde Nast Traveller UK. The top three destinations: Italy, New Zealand and Australia.
India has travelled up a notch from the fifth position last year and seems to have come a long way since the tenth position in 2003, according to the magazine. The ranking is the result of readers’ nominations in 23 categories.
Sarah Miller, UK Editor, Conde Nast Traveller, said, “It is such an amazing continent with so many diverse and appealing reasons to visit that its new ranking does not surprise me at all.”
The overall Indian inbound-tourism figures support the sentiment. Since January, 27.8 lakh foreign tourists have visited India, compared to 24.5 lakh during the same period last year.
