India gifts ambulances, buses to Nepal on I-Day

India gifted 20 ambulances and four buses to various schools, hospitals and charitable organisations in Nepal on the occasion of 68th Independence Day on Friday.

India’s ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, gifted 19 ambulances and four buses to recipients from 18 districts at a function held at the Kathmandu embassy. The remaining ambulance was by the consulate general at Birgunj.

Rae also presented books to 75 libraries, schools and educational institutions located in remote areas of Nepal.

Since 1994 India has gifted 442 ambulances to various organisations in 73 of Nepal’s 75 districts. This has helped bring healthcare services to places in remote areas.

Till date, 86 buses have been donated to schools in 24 districts making it easier for hundreds of students to reach their educational institutions.
