Indian women notched their second victory in three matches when they prevailed 3-0 over Poland. Although striker Anuradha was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Ritu Rani put India ahead and Rani Rampaul made it 2-0. Poonam Rani rounded it off in the 62nd minute.
With the win, India are on top of the table with seven points in the six-team field.
Indian coach CR Kumar still rued missed chances:
"The attack has become more balanced for sure but we need to work harder on the conversion rates."
South Africa, billed as India's toughest test, were held 1-1 with Italy.
