India is set to host a Formula One race starting in 2011.
The decision, subject to calendar approval, was announced by governing body FIA on Thursday after a World Motor Sports Council meeting in Bahrain. A race track is currently being built on the outskirts of New Delhi.
FIA also said a new selection process would be used to determine a "potential 13th entry and reserve entry" next year following USF1's last-minute withdrawal from this year's championship. FIA said it will take "appropriate action" against the American team.
Indian driver Karun Chandhok joined new F1 team Hispania Racing last week, while Force India is moving into its third season in the sport.
The 2010 season begins on Sunday with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
