Giving a cutting edge to bilateral ties, India and Uzbekistan on Wednesday signed eight Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for cooperation in various fields, including gas and energy, and vowed to combat international terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Central Asian country also extended its absolute and resolute support to India's candidature for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

In a joint statement signed after talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the two countries recognised the need for enhancing trade, economic and investment cooperation.
