India wary as Pakistani terror machinery grinds on

Interrogation of Indian origin terrorists Fasih Mehmood and Abu Jundal from Saudi Arabia has confirmed New Delhi's worst fears that anti-India terror apparatus of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the ISI-backed Karachi project was alive and kicking. The terror threat from Islamabad, four years after the 26/11 massacre, was undiminished. Pakistan uses LeT as a strategic arm against India and Taliban against Afghanistan exploiting ideological differences.

Deported in October from Riyadh, Fasih Mehmood of Indian Mujahideen (IM), a demon child of LeT-ISI Karachi project, confirmed that he was involved in large scale radicalisation and terror training of disgruntled Indian Muslim youth in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia

Mehmood, however, claimed that he was not directly involved in the bomb attacks post 26/11.

Jundal aka Zabiuddin Ansari, a key planner of Mumbai attacks, also confirmed that hardcore LeT perpetrators of 26/11 were still above Pakistani law and were involved in constant planning of terror attacks against India.

The trail leading to arrest of four Indian Mujahideen terrorists in October in New Delhi tells no different story.

The fact that Pakistan is frozen in action against LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Indian Mujahideen and Khalistani leadership is evident from the four dossiers of most wanted terrorists including LeT chief patron Hafiz Saeed and two comprehensive lists of 49 fugitives handed over to Pakistan in the past three years since the bilateral ties resumed after the 26/11 attacks.

Figuring in India's list of top-ten Pakistan-based jihadists are five persons belonging to the LeT, two to ISI, one to 313 brigade of al Qaeda, one to Indian Mujahideen. The final position goes to India's once formidable enemy — don Shaikh Dawood Hassan Ibrahim.

Apart from Hafiz Saeed, Dawood Ibrahim and LeT's chief operational commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, key 26/11 planner Sajid Mir, Syed Abdur Rehman Hashim aka Pasha, close associate of 313 commander Ilyas Kashmiri, Rashid Abdullah aka Rehan, LeT's Indian Ocean littoral states commander, and Indian Mujahideen co-founder Amir Raza Khan pose grave terror threat to India.

Rehan is responsible for LeT's infiltration in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Naidu and Hyderabad through Indian expat population in Gulf countries.

According to the Indian dossiers and most wanted list, Sajid Mir, the man who directed the LeT gunman at Nariman House to take a headshot at Ravika Holtzberg during 26/11, runs the anti-India Karachi project for Lashkar.

Pasha runs the ISI sponsored Karachi project that churns out Indian Mujahideen terrorists tasked to target their own country.

Handlers of 26/11 reconnaissance man David Coleman Headley, both Mir and Pasha visited India on the pretext of watching an Indo-Pak cricket match on April 15, 2005 and departed five days later after surveying key Indian defence installations in New Delhi.

Jundal pin-pointed Mir's present location in a housing complex on the road from Adiala jail, Rawalpindi to Islamabad, while Pasha lives a happily married life in Lahore.

A former Pakistan Army Major of Baluch Regiment with LeT links, Syed Abdur Rehman has been training Indian origin youth for the past decade with the help of Col Shah of ISI and is responsible for tasking Riyaz, Iqbal and Yasin from Bhatkal and other IM boys from Azamgarh to target Delhi in Diwali blasts in 2005 and 7/11 Mumbai train attacks.

Islamabad remains nonplussed as both Saeed and Lakhvi, handled by Brigadier Riyaz of ISI, are very close to Pakistan Army.

India has given detailed inputs about each of these most wanted terrorists to Pakistan. US has put pressure by declaring Sajid Mir a global terrorist in 2012.

According to Headley, then ISI chief Shuja Pasha, learnt about the entire 26/11 attacks from none other than Lakhvi while incarcerated at Adiala jail.

Jundal in July 2012 confirmed that Lakhvi still is directing anti-India operations from jail and Saeed is the final authority on terror attack against India.
