Indian-American Rao Anumolu, president and CEO of a technology services company, has been felicitated for getting the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of honour, highest civilian award in the US for the immigrants.

Anumolu, president and CEO of International Corporation, received standing ovation from a gathering of business leaders, academicians, technology leaders, and politicians at an event held at Long Island, New York last weekend.

Ellis Island Medal of Honor recognizes recipients for outstanding contributions to their communities, their nation and the world.

It is the highest civilian award in the US for immigrants - for their contributions in the development of this country.

Both the United States House of Representatives and Senate have officially recognized the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the recipients are read into the Congressional Record.

Past Medalists include six US Presidents, Nobel Prize winners and leaders of industry, education, the arts, sports and government.

Former Congressman George J Hochbrueckner was the chief guest of the event, who acknowledged Anumolu's contributions and congratulated him on behalf of the New York Congressional delegation.
