Indian fans were missed on grounds

It’s been strange coming to a ground in England with no boisterous Indians but guess the fans have sold the tickets they had purchased for the first semifinal. The disappointment levels have been high and the question being asked is what went wrong, comments Sunil Gavaskar.

It’s been strange coming to a ground in England with no boisterous Indians but guess the fans have sold the tickets they had purchased for the first semifinal. The disappointment levels have been high and the question being asked is what went wrong.

The T20 format is such that minnows can win and stretch established teams, so India getting beaten by three Test playing teams is not unusual. It’s just that being the defending champions and after having played so much T20 cricket in two editions of the IPL, expectations were high.

The second semi-final will be an interesting game with West Indian flair against Sri Lanka wizardry. That perhaps is an appropriate word since it is not just the bowling of the three Ms --- Muthiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga but also the batting of Dilshan, Jayawardene and Jayasuriya.
