The Indian musical, Bharati, is to be staged in Germany from September, concert promoter Marek Lieberberg said Tuesday.
The 90-minute extravaganza has its premiere in Hamburg on September 27 before moving on to Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich and Nuremberg. Performances are also planned in the Austrian capital Vienna.
The story tells of a young Indian man who grows up in the US but returns to India on business. There he falls in love with a young woman who introduces him to traditional India.
The show, which is currently running in Paris, is a mix of dances, music and traditions from India, gathering 100 artists and 700 different costumes on stage.
Artistic producer Gashash Deshe describes Bharati as the first major musical about the Indian subcontinent.
