Indians in UAE celebrate Independence day

Indians from all walks of life residing in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates joined festivities marking India's 62nd Independence Day.

Indians from all walks of life residing in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday joined festivities marking India's 62nd Independence Day.

Indian ambassador in the UAE, Talmiz Ahmad led the celebrations by hoisting the national tricolour at the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi and later addressed members of the community at the Indian school there.

The school children later put up a colourful cultural show to mark the occasion. The Indian National Congress (INC) Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha, Gireesh Kumar Sanghi was the chief guest at the event.

Members of the Indian Social Center and Indian Ladies Association were also present on the occasion.

India's Consul-General Dubai, Venu Rajamony also addressed a gathering which was attended by leading Indian businessmen and other dignitaries in the city.
