The key motivating factors for your Indian employee is not a fat pay cheque, but the type of work and possible growth opportunities, reveals a research study by consulting firm Mercer. In fact, Indians place the highest importance to growth factors across other Asian countries.

The only other country that rated type of work even higher that India is UK, which ranked respect to be the most engaging factor at workplace. Within Asia, China ranks respect as the most engaging factor.

Unlike in many nations, the research suggests that factors such as flexible working hours and a work-life balance feature low on the priority list of Indian employees while companies across industries are sweating out in creating the right work-life balance programs for their employees.
