india Updated: Sep 29, 2007 02:08 IST

The Indian Embassy and the Indian Association in Poland are making elaborate preparations to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in Warsaw on October 2.

Speaking to IANS, India's newly appointed ambassador to Poland CM Bhandari said, "I have asked people from the Polish Foreign Ministry to join the Indian community in the celebrations, and the response has been very positive."

The Indian Association will mark the day with special prayers at the local Gurudwara, recalling Gandhiji's teachings of non-violence.

Janusz Krzyzowski, the president of the Indian Polish Cultural Committee, said: "The relevance of Mahatama's message is eternal and every generation should pledge sincerely to enlarge Gandhi's vision for the betterment of humankind".
