Montreal based Indo-Canadian teenage model, Megha Sandhu, 18, was crowned Miss Teen Canada-World 2012 to become Canada's next teen beauty and goodwill ambassador.

65 contestants from various cities participated in the competition.

Megha, a home science student, is said to be always on the lookout for new learning opportunities to better understand the scientific world.

She is very keen towards arts and modelling. She has performed various acts and has also learnt Indian classical dancing, Bharat Natyam.

"I am looking forward to the wide variety of opportunities that i will experience throughout my reign, things that would have never been possible before," said Megha.

"I also hope to make a difference with special-needs children in the school environment. My brother was diagnosed with autism at a very young age so this cause is very near and dear to my heart" she said.

Megha's father was in Indian army and was posted in various Indian cities before, finally settled down in Jabalpur (M.P.).

Her parents immigrated to Canada in 1989. Megha has also dedicated her time to various volunteering opportunities and it is her heartfelt desire to promote awareness for special needs children in school environment.

The show was a must-attend event in Canada's young entertainment world, featuring hosts Luke Bilyk from Degrassi: The Next Generation and a special performance by Multi-Platinum Artist Karl Wolf.

It takes a lot more than a pretty face to win the title of Miss Teen Canada-World and Megha Sandhu definitely embodies the complete package of beauty, brain and confidence.

A strong charitable component is central to the contest and Miss Teen Canada-World has the opportunity to work closely with 'Free the children' charity throughout her yearlong reign. Megha will visit schools and development projects in under-developed nations for mission trips and will have the opportunity to interact with the children directly affected by Free the Children.

She will now represent Canada in her first event at the international Miss Teenager Pageant in Guatemala on August 19th, 2012.
