The body of a 21-year-old Indian American man who died after his car veered off the road and crashed into a tree in New Jersey Sunday has been identified as that of Abhishek Vij, a native of Delhi.

Vij, a resident of Toms River, Ocean County, in New Jersey, died on the spot when the Toyota Camry he was driving veered off the road and crashed into a tree before rolling down a wooded embankment, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

The report quoted Rocky Patel, the owner of a local convenience store in Toms River, which the victim visited occasionally, as saying that Vij had come to the US two years back after his father had passed away.

Vij studied at Ocean County College but Patel could not confirm to the newspaper which course he was enrolled in.

A relative of Vij is escorting the body back to New Delhi where his mother lives.
