The BJP on Wednesday demanded that the Indo-US nuclear deal be reviewed in Parliament.
"We should rethink about the deal in agreement with Parliament as it is feared that it is going to freeze the sovereign right to device a creditable nuclear deterrent in the future", BJP president Rajnath Singh told reporters in Guwahati.
Singh, who attended the two-day Assam state executive meeting in Guwahati, claimed that two former Atomic Energy Commission chairmen were of the view that the said deal would amount to 'giving up sovereignty'.
"The UPA government should make a statement in Parliament on the latest developments of the Indo-US nuclear deal and the US told that the deal with India and arming Pakistan cannot go together", Singh said.
"The Pakistan government's role in blackmarketing nuclear weapons to certain rogue nations should be probed into and proliferation of nuclear weapons have to be stopped," the BJP leader said.
Singh was of the view that the special waiver on nuclear arms granted to China by US should be given to India in the interest of global peace.
