INDORE DIVISION lifted the coveted A W Kanmadikar Trophy U-15 cricket tournament organised by MPCA at the Daly College grounds on Wednesday.
Bhopal Division, resuming at their overnight score of 114/5, could not stay long at the wicket and were all out for 192 runs and conceded first innings lead to host team.
It was a formality for Indore on the final day as Bhopal division had already lost their top five batsmen for merely 114 runs and they could not come back in the match.
Nitin Guru batted well and scored 44 runs with six boundaries. Saransh Jain bowled well to capture three wickets for 44 and Amit Raj and Sandeep Arya took two wickets each to help their team to take the vital first innings lead.
In the follow-on, Bhopal division showed some grit to stay at the wicket and scored 129/3 before the match was called off after the eight mandatory overs. Abhishek Singh scored 43 runs with five boundaries and Aditya Shrivatsav scored an unbeaten 36 with five boundaries and Anupam Toppo scored 30 with two boundaries.
Indore division won the coveted trophy on the basis of first innings lead of 300 runs and got back the trophy that it had lost to Bhopal last year.
MPCA chairman Dr M K Bhargav was the chief guest and vice-president Ashok Kumut presided over the function and distributed the prizes to winners. Former Ranji player Karan Singh Shekhawat was the special guest. Rajesh Walecha conducted the programme and IDCA joint secretary Raju Chouhan proposed the vote of thanks
