A gunbattle began between infiltrating militants and security forces at Gulab post in Hyhama area near the LoC on Friday night, he said, adding, four ultras have been killed so far in the encounter which was going on till last reports came in.
In another operation, security forces were engaged in an exchange of fire with ultras near Uttam Post near the LoC, he said.
Details of the operation are still awaited, he said.
In yet another encounter, security forces shot dead a militant in Bandipora district in north Kashmir, he said.
The gunbattle between security forces and militants broke out in Kota forests of Bandipora in which an unidentified militant was killed, the spokesman said, adding that an AK rifle and three magazines were recovered from the possesion of the slain ultra.
Security forces apprehended two militants from Ganderbal area and recovered a hand grenade from them, he said.
