Putting Haryana’s Congress government in a spot before its big-ticket rally in Gohana, state’s principal opposition party Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Saturday released a video clip of Haryana health minister Rao Narender Singh’s alleged deal for facilitating change of land use (CLU) of 30 acres at Palwal.
Claiming that he had more compact discs containing evidence of the Congress legislators’ CLU deals, INLD leader and Ellenabad legislator Abhey Chautala told news reporters that the Rao footage is from May 22 at Panchayat Bhawan in Narnaul.
The 5-minute clip allegedly shows the minister inquiring about the deal but also stating that it was not his department, though he could try talking to someone to help. Rao also allegedly inquired about the land owners’ offer and the “mode of payment” before making an assurance of finding a way out and the authority concerned.
The state government led by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had become a puppet in the hands of real-estate giants, said Abhey Chautala. “Its leaders are busy looting the state’s people and making crores of rupees in the CLU deals,” he added, demanding Rao’s dismissal from the ministry and a sitting judge to investigate the case.
Abhey: No faith in Lokayukta
Asked if he would appear before justice (retd) Pritam Pal, lokayukta looking into the earlier INLD CDs, Abhey said he had faith in the institution of lokayukta but none in justice Pal, as he was a Congress appointee and, hence, would not be fair in his investigation. “I will expose, later, how he has been favoured,” he added.
Approached for his reaction to Abhey’s comments, justice Pal said the baseless charge wasn’t worthy of his comments, and he would let all know that his judicial career of more than 27 years had been known for honesty and integrity. “Even Opposition leader Om Prakash Chautala supported my candidature for the post of lokayukta,’’ he said.
‘Hooda thinking 2 polls together’
Abhey Chautala also said Hooda would go in for the assembly elections as well along with the coming parliamentary contests. “Hooda may say he will not but I’m certain he will,” he said.
Beofe releasing the CD, Abhey Chautala accused the chief minister of sheltering his legislators whose names had cropped up in criminal cases. “(CM Bhupinder Singh) Hooda has not ordered investigation into any of these cases,” said the INLD leader, adding that the Congress regime had also failed to fulfil all its promises made eight years ago. “Hooda will come out with more sops at Sunday’s Gohana rally to woo voters, as his hidden agenda is to hold assembly and Lok Sabha elections together,’’ Abhey said.
