DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER of Bhopal-Hoshangabad Division K K Singh ordered an inquiry into charges of corruption in allotting permits for mini-buses. The directive for the inquiry came following allegation of corruption made by the MLA from Bhopal North Arif Aqueel at the divisional traffic coordination committee on Thursday.

Aqueel alleged that the committee had decided not to issue permits. But, the regional transport officer issued permits for the mini-buses, he alleged. He also raised objection over the non-functioning of traffic signals.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) to put back the non-functional traffic signals in order within a fortnight. Singh told the corporation to put back traffic signals of Bhopal Talkies, Bus Stand, Alpana Tiraha, Habibganj Police Station Square and 10 No. Bus Stop Crossing in order before May 1.

Aqueel also said that the mini-buses operators should be made to stop buses at stops. He said there should be a ban on the mini-bus stopping on the squares. Aqueel said the uncontrolled mini-buses have been creating traffic hazard at Railway station.

IG Sanjeev Singh said a plot should be given to the RTO for the driving test. District Collector Sanjay Kumar Shukla assured that the plot would be provided to the RTO for the purpose. The members of bus operators were also present.

Members agree to Shukla’s suggestion
DISTRICT COLLECTOR Sanjay Kumar Shukla today suggested that the diesel passenger tempos should not be plied in the dense areas. He said such vehicles should be run out of the City from Lalghati to Phanda, Bus Stand to Eintkhedi and Pul Bogda to Raisen Road. The committee members gave their consent to the idea.
