The city police have asked petrol pump owners to install CCTV cameras to boost security. The city police commissioner on Friday advised owners to increase surveillance so that criminal activity could be checked in the pump’s premises. In a meeting on Thursday, the commissioner also asked owners not to entertain two-wheeler riders who are not wearing helmets.
“We have asked petrol pump dealers to sell fuel only to customers who are wearing helmets. Also, we asked to them to install CCTV cameras which will give them more security and also help us trace criminals who often strike petrol pumps. A number of cases have come to light where criminals managed to run away easily,” said SS Deswal, Gurgaon police commissioner.
The police have also launched a drive against two-wheeler riders without helmet. About 14,000 challans have been issued.
