Security forces of 18th Sikh regiment launched a massive manhunt at Kabowakching area in Bishenpur district yesterday following reports of movement of insurgents. During the search operation, a self-styled major of UNLF identified as Amom Ibomcha (42) was arrested along with a small arm, sources said adding his interrogation led to the arrest of three sympathisers of the outfit identified as T Shashikanta (30), Imocha Singh (53) and Mangi Singh (50).
In another incident, a powerful bomb attached to a two wheeler was seized from the gate of a school at Sangakpham area in Imphal West district yesterday, they said adding that the experts later defused it. The motive behind the incident was not known but police said they would investigate whether it was connected with monetary demand from the local residents by some militants, sources said.
