Between May 24 and 25, Intel Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Paul S Otellini will be in India. And keeping him company will be over 200 chief executives of Intel Capital’s portfolio companies from across the globe.
The objective is two-fold. While the Intel Capital summit will act as a platform for Intel to chart the technology direction for future and deliberate upon the newer areas to pump in the available funds, it will also be used as a forum for match-making between idea and fund carriers.
“The idea is to expose the global companies to the Indian investment ecosystem and local opportunities and use the captive audience to test the waters on where the demand for technology is headed,” said Intel Corp Director Marketing (South Asia) GB Kumar.
The Intel chief’s visit to India close on the heels of the just-concluded World Congress on Information Technology gains significance in the wake of his showcasing Eduwise — a product created in India for the world audience at the forum. The product is a laptop look-alike but a portable and an affordable computer that could replace the 10-pound bags that students have to carry.
After the recent global launch of the Community PC, also made in India, Otellini’s India visit is being viewed as an important stop over in Intel’s overall emerging markets strategy. The objective is to take the benefits of technology to the next billion population in developing markets of the world through active participation of Indian operations.
