Inter-school basketball: Easy wins for top teams

india Updated: Sep 09, 2006 14:56 IST

ST THOMAS School, Red Rose School, International Public School (IPS) and Army School won their respective matches comfortably in the St Thomas Interschool Basketball Tournament that began on Friday on the school premises.

In the first match, IPS trounced Orion International Public School 24-16 and entered the second round. Army School scored a one-sided win over Rajeev Gandhi School. The domination of Army boys could be gauged from the fact that the team registered a 22-9 win.

Hosts St Thomas School sailed into the next round by scoring a facile 22-5 victory, facing little resistance from Sagar Public School (SPS). Fine control over the ball and scoring points on every opportunity were the highlight of the home team’s victory.

Skipper Prashant was the most impressive player from the winning side. Story was same for the day’s last match played between Red Rose and Carmel Convent, Ratanpur. Overpowering the Carmel Convent, Red Rose scored a 25-12 victory. Earlier, chief guest of the opening ceremony IG Bhopal Sanjeev Kumar Singh inaugurated the tourney.
