Intermittent rains keep Shimla cold

Intermittent rains accompanied by chilly wind kept the capital town cold for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday.Though cold conditions prevailed, the mercury showed a slight increase.The lowest temperature shot up to 9.9 degree celsius in Shimla, Met office sources said. It was 7.1 deg c on Saturday.Sundernagar recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degrees while it was 10.5 C in Bhuntar, Dharamsala (8.6 deg C) and Mandi (13.0 deg C).

For the first time in the current winter season in the hill state no place showed temperature below freezing point.The high reaches of Keylong, district headquarters of Lahual & Spiti, had a minimum temperature of 2.1 deg c while it was 1.2 deg c in Kalpa in Kinnaur district bordering China.The Met office forecast light rainfall in low and middle hills areas tomorrow and light to moderate rain/snow at few places in the high altitude hills.
