A WOMAN has accused her father-in-law, an IPS officer, of dowry harassment and alleged that he was forcing her to bring Rs 50 lakh from her parents’ house or else he would prove her to be a woman of loose character.

Koh-e-Fiza police have registered a case of dowry harassment under Section 498 (A) against the accused C S Malviya of BDA Colony Lalghati. His daughter-in-law, Sunita had approached the police a few days back and alleged through an application that Malviya was harassing her for dowry and used to beat her up daily.

The woman, however, said her husband Vinod, mother-in-law and sister-in-law were innocent and rather they used to sympathise with her. Sunita said that C S Malviya used to bully all four of them on a regular basis and they feared for their lives.

She has requested the police to provide them protection from Malviya. Police have registered a case against Malviya today and further investigations were on in the matter. C S Malviya is presently posted as AIG in the computer branch at the PHQ. Despite several attempts, C S Malviya could not be contacted till the filing of the report. He did not respond to calls made on his cell phone.
