IPS officers reshuffled in Orissa

Orissa government on Saturday effected a major reshuffle in the IPS level by transferring at least 19 officers including Y B Khurania, the additional commissioner of police of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack police commissionrate, official sources said.

According to a notification published by the Home department, Khurania was posted as DIG of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur.

Khurania's transfer was significant in the wake of the Biranchi Das murder case investigation.

The then police commissioner Binay Behera, two DCPs like Amitabh Thakur, S Priyadarshi and a number of junior police officers were transferred since Das' murder on April 13.

Earlier, Home Secretary T K Mishra while announcing the transfer of Behera, had indicated that Khurania would also be transferred. Khurania was expected to be transferred after a getting a promotion, but he was shifted with no change in rank of DIG.

S K Nath, an IPS officer of 1993 batch at present DIG of Police, South Western Range, Sunabeda, was posted in Khurania's place.
