The report Getting real: 1,411 is inflated count (February 17) is shocking as it reveals that indiscriminate hunting and poaching led to the disappearance of the cheetah from India. Now we are left with no option but to bring them from other countries. Our greed, irresponsibility and insensitivity towards animals have led to the present plight of wildlife in our country. We are now left with the last of the few remaining tigers. If appropriate measures are not taken to protect these tigers, it wouldn’t be long before they become extinct.
