Refusing to treat the death of budding singer Ishmeet Singh in Maldives as a case of drowning, his family on Sunday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, requesting him for a CBI probe into the case.

Ishmeet’s father Gurpinder Singh and his uncle Charan Kamal Singh met the Prime Minister in Delhi.

The Prime Minister, though assuring to look into their demand, told them that there were procedures and laws to be followed as the case involved another country.

Ishmeet’s uncle insisted that the circumstances under which the upcoming singer died warranted a CBI probe.

A deep cut on the left side of the forehead and a blood clot on the temple of Ishmeet remain unexplained, he said.
