THE THIRD meeting of the North Central Railway’s Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) was held here on June 22 under the chairmanship of General Manager Budh Prakash. The meeting was attended by 18 ZRUCC members including members of Parliament Ramji Lal Suman, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Shailendra Kumar, Virendra Kumar, Ram Swaroop Kohli and 13 other members belonging to different areas like Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra, Gwalior and Bharatpur of NCR zone.
Many senior officers of the NCR were also present at this meeting.
Chief Commercial Manager SK Behera welcomed the members. Prakash narrated the achievements of the NCR zone during the last financial year 2005-06. He said the total earning of NCR was Rs 1076.06 crore i.e. 6.2 per cent above the last year. He said the new PRS centres at seven new locations and 10 UTS windows were opened.
He apprised the members about the progress of passenger amenities, doubling and provision of third link work between Allahabad and Subedarganj for the clearance of additional passengers during April - May 2006, 372 additional sleeper coaches were augumented in different trains, whereas only 256 coaches were augmented in last April-May. For facilities of dealing of goods traffic Mahoba, Dhaulpur, Harpalpur, Muraina, Datiya, Shankargarh, Kosikalan, Lalitpur and Dabra etc were being provided with full rake handling facilities. Five new trains have been introduced from April 2006. The construction work of new lines i.e. Bhind-Etawah, Agra-Etawah, Lalitpur-Satna-Khajuraho have been accelerated.
