Unlike many kidnappings for ransom in recent past, this one ended happily for Rohit Reddy and his software engineer parents.

Apparently, alarmed by the wide coverage given to the kidnapping drama by all TV channels, the abductors of the boy panicked and dropped him at Tekullapally village in Khammam district, about 200 kms from Hyderabad.

According to Janardhan, Circle Inspector of Tekullapally, two people brought the boy in an Indica car and stopped near the Tekullapally bus stop at around 11.30 am.

They handed the boy to a college student who was waiting for his bus and said that they would come back soon as they had to urgently attend nature`s call.

The college student waited for over an hour but the duo did not turn up. Meanwhile, some of his other college friends joined him at the bus stop. One of them recognised the boy, saying he looked exactly like the kidnapped kid as shown on TV channels.

Thereafter, they went to the local police station and handed over the boy to the authorities.

"When the boy was brought to the police station, he was drowsy. He had mild fever and besides he was tired from long travel. I took him to the hospital where he was checked by doctors and administered some medicine. Thereafter, I brought him back to police station and arranged for him to talk to his parents at Hyderabad, " Janardhan said.

He said that the boy was being taken to Khammam, where he will be handed over to his parents. The parents left Hyderabad at around 6.30 pm and are expected to reach Khammam by midnight.

Meanwhile police have launched massive manhunt for the two kidnappers in Khammam district.

The boy was kidnapped by two unidentified persons clad in jeans and jackets around 4.30 pm on Tuesday while he was playing with five other children at the playground of their school, close to his house, at Kondapur, near Madhapur in Cyberabad police limits.

The kidnappers who had picked up the child in a black Toyota qualis car, changed the car midway and took an indica car. Reports said that they had demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom.
