Launching his campaign in Andhra Pradesh where assembly polls will be held in tandem with Lok Sabha elections, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today said it is better to have governments of the same party at the Centre as well as in the state.
"To implement various welfare schemes and projects, it is always better to have governments of the same party at both the Centre and the state," Rahul said addressing a rally at Mylavaram town, 100 km from here.
Driving his point home, he said people have seen the benefit of having Congress-led governments at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh where a lot of welfare schemes could be implemented.
"Congress-led UPA government has fulfilled the promises it had made to the people", Rahul claimed adding the party is committed to the welfare of tribals, farmers, Dalits, and backward classes.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy hailed the contribution of the Gandhi family to the country and enlisted various welfare schemes implemented by his government for the uplift of the poor.
