After Digvijay Singh’s visit to Sanjarpur, the Congress now proposes to send Rahul Gandhi to Azamgarh to interact with Muslim youth.

“We have requested Sonia Gandhi to send Rahul Gandhi to Sibli College, a institution of the minorities that has remained associated with the freedom fighters,” said state party chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

But, no date has been fixed.

Joshi along Singh and secretary Parvez Hashmi had met Sonia to submit a report on the Sanjarpur visit. The delegation also requested the Congress president to visit Azamgarh.

“Sibli College’s library is one of the richest libraries. It has letters of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters sent to the institution’s authorities ...,” said Joshi, adding, Rahul’s visit would instill a sense of confidence among the Muslim youth of the region.

In his report, Singh has urged Sonia to set up a special fast-track court for fair trial of all terror-related cases, including the Batla House encounter.
