Choreographer-turned-director Ganesh Acharya's dream of working with Akshay Kumar was shattered when the actor reportedly asked for an exorbitant price to sign up.
Acharya and Kumar have been toying with the idea of working together since the last few years which explains the latter's presence at the premiere of Acharya's directorial debut Swami at a suburban multiplex last year.
"Ganesh wanted Akshay in his second film but when dates didn't work out he went ahead with another film, Money Hai To Honey Hai. They decide to get together at a later date," says a source.
Akshay Kumar supposedly was quite happy with the script. The problem was money. The film's producer Kumar Mangat was confident that Kumar wouldn't charge his market price.
"But while Akshay was prepared to make some concession, he wasn't game for the amount Kumar Mangat had in mind. So as of now the project isn't happening," adds the source.
Kumar will also not be doing the item number for Acharya's Money Hai To Honey Hai as had been decided earlier.
The comic caper toplines Govinda, Manoj Bajpai, Aftab Shivdasani, Upen Patel and Celina Jaitley and is being produced by Mangat.
Acharya and he were supposed to fly out to Australia where Kumar was shooting for Singh is Kingg after their schedule in Malaysia, to shoot the item number. But once again, money was the problem.
"Since this is Akshay's first item number, he thought he should be paid higher than what Mangat was offering him. When that didn't happen he opted out," informs the source.
