india Updated: Oct 14, 2009 18:41 IST

shoppingWomen are more likely to act on impulse and give in to bargains whereas men blow the dough on getting the biggest and best product, according to a poll.

The Lonergan Research survey revealed majority of people overspent while shopping, with three in five females confessed to losing control over purchasing.

Experts found that not giving enough time to shop for a better deal, being worn out for shopping, taking a shop assistant's recommendation, or pressure selling from staff were some of the reasons big bucks were shelled out, reports the Daily Telegraph.

RMIT University marketing expert Dr Con Stavros explained most people do not stick to particular companies or products and want no excuse to step into a mall.
