Pets are considered a part of the family and that’s why their owners often take them out for a fun time. Now, you can also please your pet by joining a group of animal lovers in the city who organise special ‘dog days’.
Started by dog owners, Sonali Dua and Anubhav Saxena, the group, Dogs Day Out, meets every second Sunday of the month at a farm, where fun activities are held for dogs.
“Gurgaon does not have any animal-friendly parks. So, we decided to go to a dog farm together and it turned out to be a lot of fun,” says Dua, who owns a Saint Bernard.
The group has organised two Dog Days at a farm in Palam Vihar, complete with activities like ball catching, frisbee, running and swimming. “Though mainly for dogs and their owners, even people who do not have a pet, but love dogs, are welcome to come and join the fun,” says Saxena. “It’s a great opportunity for dogs of different breeds to socialise with each other,” says Ajay Sood, another dog lover from the group.
Usually, about 15 to 20 dogs and their owners attend a dog party. “The dogs usually feel so caged in our homes. It is fun to let them free at the park and watch them have a blast as they run around and play with each other. It’s a great way for owners to bond with their pets as well,” says Sehba Imam, another dog lover.
Open to all dog lovers in the city, the group also has a Facebook page, which has about 125 members. “The Facebook page helps us connect with more pet lovers in the city who would like to join the fun,” says Dua.
