Diarrhoea spreading, 11 more in hospital

ELEVEN MORE people suffering from diarrhoea were admitted to various hospitals on Thursday. They belong to Saket Vihar, Khuarram Nagar and Bansmandi areas of the city.

Those who were admitted to Bhaurao Deoras Hospital were identified as Gopala (16), Krishna (12), Shiva (eight), Raju (nine) and Kunti. All these victims belong to Khurrum Nagar

Those who were admitted to IDH hospital were identified as Mahzabi (16) Shamsuddin (40), Arshi (20), Zubair (18), Rakesh (22) and Updesh, all residents of  Bansmandi. They were also suffering from diarrhoea. They belong to Bansmandi area of the city.

Diarrhoea has spread to Bansmandi, Narhi, Aliganj Malin Basti, Campbell Road and Yaseenganj.

While the number of diarrhoea cases is going up, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is only concentrating on the cleaning of VIP Road.

The department is neglecting the diarrhoea-hit areas.

The top LMC officials inspected the VIP Road and the areas adjacent to Lohia Law Institute. They never visited the affected areas.

There was no clean-up drive in Saket Vihar Khurram Nagar and Bansmandi where the epidemic has struck.

The residents of the area criticized the LMC for the spread of the epidemic.

According to CMO Dr KK Singh, the officials are distributing medicines in the affected areas. “But the maintaining sanitation is the job of LMC. For this, a letter has been sent to LMC chief,” Dr Singh said.
