‘It was special as it was needed’
Speaking during a press conference, skipper MS Dhoni hinted that there might be no changes in team composition even thought the Kotla pitch was behaving mysteriously, Heena Zuni Pandit reports.india Updated: Oct 30, 2009 23:09 IST
As soon as the Indian team arrived at the Ferozeshah Kotla for practice, Amit Mishra went straight to the ground to take a closer look at the pitch. Maybe, Mishra was expecting to see a spin-friendly pitch and hoping he would be included in the playing XI.
But, speaking during a press conference, skipper MS Dhoni hinted that there might be no changes in team composition even thought the Kotla pitch was behaving mysteriously.
Following are the excerpts.
On the last match that India won in Nagpur...
We have taken a lot of positives from the last win. A good win boosts your confidence. We want to keep this winning momentum going.
On his own feat…
Can't rate the century but it was special as it was needed. Besides, I was batting with Gambhir after a long time and 75 per cent of our runs came off one and twos, which is again a good thing.
On team composition…
Each individual has a role to play in the team. Whether Sachin is opening with Sehwag, Gambhir is coming in at number three…everyone is playing his role well.
Besides, we have two part-time bowlers. So, there is not much room to change the team composition.
On Harbhajan Singh's form…
Bhajji is not bowling at his best but it's just a matter of one good match.
On the Kotla pitch…
It's very important to get a good start.
Sometimes, a target of around 300 is not enough and sometime a target of even 230 is good enough. That ways, a lot depends on how the pitch behaves. Hope we'll get a good wicket.
