Panic set in around the Legislative Assembly complex when a guard of the J&K Bank accidentally fired with his double barrel gun (DBG) near the civil secretariat in Jammu on Monday morning.
As the legislators in the treasury and opposition benches were exchanging heated debates inside the state legislative assembly complex, the atmosphere also got panicky for the security personnel outside who for a while were not sure about the misfire incident and mistook it for a possible "terrorist attack".
These days the budget session of the Assembly session is on in the winter capital Jammu.
The incident occurred in the adjoining Gandhi Bhawan where the security guard of the state's premier Jammu and Kashmir Bank misfired with his DBG. The security guard was on duty with the treasury van of the Town Hall branch of J&K Bank.
The guard identified as Nard Singh, son of Shallu Ram of Samba is an ex-serviceman.
Nard Singh fired accidentally when the weapon he carried slipped off his hand, police said.
