In a bid to streamline traffic movement, Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has identified 122 places for the installation of traffic signals in the capital cities of the state, officials said on Saturday.
A survey has been conducted by the police department regarding the location of traffic signals and 122 points have been identified in Jammu and Srinagar capital cities in this direction, state home ministry officials said.
Of these, 67 locations have been identified for the purpose in summer capital city, Srinagar, and 55 locations in winter capital city, Jammu.
The police department has floated an Expression of Interest (EoI) for the supply, installation and maintenance of automated Traffic Signal System (ATSS) on BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and transfer) Basis, officials said.
Six EOI and offers have been received from various interested parties which are being evaluated through a committee of officers constituted for purpose.
The decision shall be taken on the recommendations of the said committee, they said.
