J-K: Major fire in Katra, many shops gutted

A major fire gutted over two dozen shops in the Naya Bazar area of Katra late on Monday night. The shops had huge stocks worth lakhs of rupees. However no loss of life was reported.

A major fire gutted over two dozen shops in the Naya Bazar area of Katra late on Monday night. The shops had huge stocks worth lakhs of rupees. However no loss of life was reported.

Police said the fire may have been caused due to short circuit. They said many fire tenders from the nearby Reasi town were rushed to the market and it took firefighters took over five hours to douse flames.

The local MLA Ajay Nanda and deputy commissioner visited the spot to assess the losses on Tuesday.
