Security forces gunned down a suspected militant of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba holed up inside a house in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, police said.
In a joint operation, the Indian Army and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation at Sofi Hamam village in Chanakhan area of Sopore, 55 km from Srinagar, in the wee hours following information about the presence of LeT militants there, a police official said.
According to reports, self-styled LeT commander Abu Huzaifa, who is wanted in several cases, was among those hiding in the area.
Security forces refused to divulge further details of the ongoing operation, which was launched early in the morning despite inclement weather.
