Militants carried out a grenade attack on the residence of a deceased office bearer of National Conference (NC) in Batamaloo area of the city, a police spokesman said in Srinagar on Saturday.
"Unidentified militants hurled a grenade towards the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar and Bashir Ahmad Dar, sons of ex-NC Block president late Jamal Dar at Bazar Batamaloo late last night," the spokesman said.
The grenade exploded in the compound of the house, causing damage to the house but no one was hurt in the incident.
Militants have upped the attacks on political workers and security forces recently. The ultras hurled a grenade upon police and security forces at Kangan Market in Ganderbal district yesterday. Four persons were injured in that attack.
Station House Officer of Sopore was injured in a grenade attack on his police station on Thursday while an election office in the same area was also attacked with grenades by the militants.
Although the first phase of polls on November 17 passed off peacefully, militants are trying to disrupt the remaining six phases.
