Pakistan has started firing in the Balakote sector targeting forward posts and civilian areas. Defence spokesperson said Pakistan army is firing with 120 mm and 82 mm mortar shells.
"Pakistan has again started unprovoked firing at about 7pm in the Balakote sector with mortar shells. The army is also retaliation in an equal manner," said defence spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta.
There was a brief lull in the firing since Sunday night, after firing for about three hours from 10pm to I am early Monday morning in the Subjiyan and Mandi areas.
Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said on August 15 that one person died and three were injured in firing by India in the Kotli sector, which is across the Poonch.
The defence sources said firing has resumed in the Mendhar sector. It's the ninth day of consecutive firing in the Poonch sector by Pakistan in which six people have died and about 20 were injured. Schools have been closed in the worst affected three panchayat areas of the Poonch district.
Security observers believe it's an attempt to derail the forthcoming national security advisor-level talks stated to be held on August 23.
